Mr. Ross' bill to erect Manitoulin into a provincial Judicial district provides that until the appointment of a Judge for the district the present Junior Judge of Algoma and Manitoulin shall hold Division Courts, and revise voters' .lists. The territory of the new district. com- pises the lands known as the terri- toriai district of Manitoulin. and the following additional territory: Township of Humboldt, with Grondine Indian Reserve: Township of Carlyle. Town- ship ot Rutherford, including Killarney Village and that part of the mainland lying west of Carlyle Township, and hounded on the north by timber limits 82 and M, and on the south by Georgian Bay. The bill also reveals section 2 ot the unorganized territory act, and substitutes a clause to the effect that the territorial districts of Thunder Bay, Rainy River. t'Altroma,Mtutitoulln,Nipits- sing. Muskoka and Parry Bound shall form provisional Judicial districts. Turnover Tax Bill. When the Municipal Committee of the local House met this morning the Chairman, Hon. Mr. Hardy. stated that there had been a general demand for a reconsideration of the turnover tax bill. He intimated that the commit.. tee would consider the bill on Wednes- day next. He named one gentleman. Mr. Elias Rogers. among those who had asked that the principle of the bill be again brought up for discussion. Fishery Overseers. The following fttrheriea overseers were appointed some time ago in addition to the recent appoinitments published in The Globe, but were not made public until to-day: Silvanus Freeman, Brigh- ton: Henry Johnson, Brantford; James McRitchie. Bothwell; R. J. Walker, Port Credit; John Farrell. Cayuga; Timothy McQueen. Chktham; Archibald Cooper. hunnville: Peter Drouillard. Canal River P. O.; Henry Barr, Douglas; Jas. K. Laird, Gills P. O.; Geo. D. McCall, Victoria: Andrew B. Meiscar,Burford. They will have charge of the fisheries within the localities of the addresses given. The salaries range from $40 to 32:0 per annum, according to the ex- tent of the territory to be supervised. Disqualification ot Councillors. Mr. Whitney's bill to amend the municipal act relates to the dfsqualiii- canon of Councillors. The act declares that any member of a. Council who vcted for the borrowing of a larger sum for current expenditure than 80 per cent. of the amount collected in taxes during the preceding year shall be disqualified.
