Increase In the Revenue From Wood- nnd Forests and Decllne In Receipts From Succession Duties. The public accounts for Ontario have. been printed, and will be presented to the House this week. The receipts in 1899 amounted to $4,096,494.96, while the expenditure was $3,710,420.82. leav- Ing a surplus of $3tit's,074.14. As com- pared with 1898 the receipts for last Veer show an increase of $449,141. The receipts from woods and forests were a little over $1,000,000, as compared with $981,186 the previous year. The rev- enue from succession duties was $1.10,- 000, as against $206,185 the previous year. The taxation imposed for the purpose of augmenting the Provincial revenue yielded $217,000. The state of the Bnancee disclosed by the public ac- counts is most gratifying, and the Pro- vincial Treasurer will doubtless make the moat or the excellent showing on the occasion of his budget speech. , It may be noted that the railway sub- lidles last year were paid out of ordin- ary revenue. and that no railway cer- titicatea were issued, as had been the case tor many years previously. t==.--',='."=."=',r-"..e=.'.".-"e=
