Actual business in the Legislature yesterday afternoon after prayets l'f'd been said occupied exactly four min-- utes. _ The Honorable the Speaker found it necessary to desire honorable mem-- bers to write their names on the backs of their petitions before presenting them. _ Having presumably complied with this reasonable request, nearly all the honorable members present, who --| were not more than enough to "make a House," endeavored simultaneously to catch the Speaker's eye. The mob was resolved into a procession, and the sey-- eral representatives presented a scries of petitions, most of which requested the repeal of section 606 of the munici-- pal act.-- The petitioning municipalitics were of one consent in wishing to be relieved of the liability for damages from defective highways which this sec-- tion imposes.
