An important amendment to the Ontario railway act was introduced in the Legislature yesterday by Hon. :J. S. iiendrie. The bill. according to the Minister. is designed to facilitate interchange of freight switching, etc., between railways under the jurisdic- tion of the Dominion Railway Board and the Ontario Railway and Muni- cipal Board. Under the present arrangement a company incorporated under the Do- minion act cannot be compelled to make connections with a company incorporated in Ontario and vice- versa. l'nder the new act where an application is made. by any railway; for interchange of switching Ori freight rates. representatives of the,' Dominion Board of Railway Com-1 missioners and the Ontario Railway; and Municipal Board will meet and together pass upon the application. l i i GOVERNMENT PROMISES TO , GIVE CONSIDERATION TO RE. _ QUEST FROM N.
