[ Wititivtensmmenconcmmmmimirmmmue en t ! _ In the Provincial Legislature yes" terday afternoon Sir James \Vhimeyl mentioned a change he proposed to malke in his bill to amend the Ontario railway act, providing that the work-- ing hours of motormen and conduct-- ors may be regulated, but in no case shall any employee of a railway be permitted to work more than six days in the week or fonger than ten hours in a day. '"'The toll--road should no longer|! exist in Ontario," said Mr. Sam Clarke (West Northumberland) during the discussion in Committee of the Whole of an act respecting toll--roads intro-- duced by Hon. Dr. Reaume. Dr. Reaume explained that the bill pro-- vided for the abolishing of toll--roads at the option of the municipalities in iwhich they are contained, but these roads may not be abandoned without lthe consent of the municipality. Proudfoot, also upon request, withdrew his bill which plac-- ed the construction of certain bridges and other works under the direction of the Railway Board. | Registration of Mineral Lands. , Hon. Mr. Hearst introduced a bill providing for the owners of minerals' being registered for the same under the provisions of the land titles a,ct.' It relates only to lands registered un--| der that act, and is for the purpose of ; 'making the duties of local masters ofi titles clear. Under an act passed in | 1908 minerals reserved to the Crown| under patents theretofore granted for| farm lands were released, so that thel settler became the owner of the min-- erals, if there were any on his land. In some cases these lands had chang-- ed hands subsequent to the patent, but before the passing of the act. Inspectors' Salaries Raised, Hon. Dr. Pyne introduced an amendment to the schools act in-' creasing the salaries of inspectors from $1,700 to $2,000 in three years| at the rate of $100 a year.
