By way of ex-- j s 1 planation he acknowledged his wrong,i admittedl authorship of the letter :md# ho indiscretion in writing it, and ten--i dered his apologies to the House. That was not all. Hon. J. J. I"oy] was glad to have the statement and the g . spology, but he did not think it was| enough. The proof of the writing of | the letter was now before the liouse,t 'und the duty rested with the House and with the Government as to what| cught to be done. There was no other j course--open to Mr. Evanturel but tO' resign, and he should consider whe-- ther he should not do so. Mr. Ferguson Recriminates. Mr. G. Howard Ferguson (Gren-- ville) moved the adjournment of the MHouse to discuss the matter. H{e would not be denied his pound of fleosh, and yproceeded to charge Mr.] Nowell with insineerity in his tempcr-! ance motives because Mr. Evanturel had been retained as a member of the' party for two years. Iie commended' Mr. Evanturel for his courage for' having come out in opposition to his leader's proposals, and thought the| other members of the Opposition, who | Mr. Evanturel stated were of the| same opinion, should not wait until, they were forced to declare their po-l sition. lHe got into a wrangle with Dr. McQueen (North Wentworth) whom he styled as an '"adept at inter-- rupting." * "I have been learning from you," said Dr. McQueen.
