It is also set forth, in substitution jor an Cxisting section, that the Treasurer may appoint a Commis-- sioner or Commissioners to sscertain what property, if any, is subject to succession duty under the terms of the act, the fair market value -- of such property, and make inguiries on other matters specified, Hon. T. W. McGarry, Provincial Treasurer, yesterday introduced the amusement tax bills in the Leg-- islature _ providing for _ a mini-- mum _ tax of one cent on ad-- missions to places of amusement, with the right 68f the Lieutenant--Gov-- ernor in Council to increase the sum to 25 cents. The one--cent levy, it is expected, will be a general rate at first, but afterwards there will be an advance, with more on the bigger houses. When the tax is raised as high as 10 cents it is calculated that the revenue brought in will be $600,-- 000. Provision is made for giving to the houses which collesct the tax 10 per cent. of the proceeds gathered i1 for Government purposes. In order to simplify procedure and take steps which the authorities have been unable to take to determine the value of an estate, Hon,. T. W. Mc-- Garry, Provincial Treasurer, yester-- day introduced in the Legislature & bill to amend the succession duty act.
