He said that the Government was not prepared at the present time to set the saijaries to be paid to these twod officials. The hbill, which was proposed by J, W. Curry (Southeast Toronto) would take from the Crown Attor-- neys in the city and in York the right of private practice. Mr. Curry asked that his bill stand in the meantime, and the request was' granted. . Night Yet Young at 11.30°-- Thinks Farmer Premier Prompt investigation was prom-- ised on the f4loor of the Legislature by Attorney-(}eneral Raney yester-- day of the report that, following the seizure of a car of whiskey at Chatham, bottles of liquor were in-- dlscrlminately distributed _ to all-- comers. Mr. Dewart introduced the matter by reading a letter he had received from a Chatham complain. ant, Hon. Mr. Raney said that the writer had sent him a like missive and commented that apparently there had been some "'gross irregu-- larity" in the capital of Kent County.
