The legislation will provide that employers as well as parents are to be made liable under i'ertain condi-- tions for breaches of the Adolescent School Act under an amendment to the Factories Act This amendment brings the Factories Act into con-- formity with the Adolescent School Act by prohibiting the employment of boys and girls under the age of 16, except under the special condi-- tions set out in the Adolescent School Act. To provide for adequate inspec-- tion of the factories with a view to the enforcement of this and the ex-- | isting clauses of the Factories Act, . the Minister of TLabor informed the Local Council of Women that _ he would appoint two women factory inspectors to fill the single vacancy which at present exists. According to the report made at yesterday's meeting of the Local Council of Wo-- men, Hon. Mr. Rollo, when urged to appoint a woman factory inspector to replace the one who had resigned, had suggested that the council name two rather than one. Two women, Mrs. Hagersman and Mrs. Shaugh-- nessy, have been named -- accord-- ingly. Aedidipeistesteeee en ie e ies
