George S. Henry, Minister of High-- ways. Potential Wealth of Empire,. A -- deputation from Waterioo County, introduced by K. K. Homuth and W. G. Weichel, urged this cx-- tension. M»r. Henry stated that th«e surgested linking of the two high-- ways had been under consideration and met with the favor of the Gov-- ernment. Raney, came yesterday afternoon, shortly after the House had opened. And with it the members were given the information that the Govern-- ment control bill will probably be brought down within two . weeks' time. Rising before the orders of the day were called, Mr. Raney pointed out that there had been a statement in the press from the Prime Minister that it would be at least a fortnight before the bill would appear. "My honorable friend will appreciate that it is a bill that requires considerable thought and consideration. I am not in a position to tell my honorable friend when it will come in, but I anrhope-- ful that it will get down earlier than that." "At any rate," he added, after a momentary pause, "there will be ample opportunity for a full discus-- sion, if that is what my friend is worried about." SAFEGUARDING POWER ALONG ENCLISH RIVER Premier Ferguson Gives As-- surances to Deputation From Winnipeg Premier G. Howard Ferguson has assured the City of Winnipeg, through a deputation which recently waited upon him, that Ontario will do nothing regarding the power pos-- sibilities of the English River that might jeopardize the future power supply of the Manitoba Capital. Headed "by Right Hon. Arthur Mceighen, the Winnipeg& deputation, comprising Hydro officials, urged upon the Ontario Government the construction of a conservation dam on the English River with a view to safeguarding their supply of en-- ergy. Winnipeg, it was pointed out,. was dependent upon 40 miles of flow of this river. is completed.
