Premier Ferguson intrcduced a bill ; to amend the Mining Act, and ex--| plained that it was really an outcoms of the Royal Commission's investiga-- | tion into the Hollinger disaster two" years ago, incorporating some of the recommendations pertaining to the operations of mines. This bill came up at the last session of the Legislaturce, but was left over for further con-- sideration until the present onc. More Protection, It was given first reading yesterday, and the Prime Minister explained tha on the return of Hon. Charles McCrea, Minister of Mines, Mr. McCrea would move second reading of the bill and «_A give a more extended explanation of * its provisions. Among the main amendments proposed, it is understood. are provisions for the protection of miners in underground fires and regu-- lations governing the thawing of dyna-- > mite in mining operations. The bills introduced by Attorney-- General Price provide for amendments to the Public Trustees Act, the Trus-- tees Act and the Crown Administration of Estates Act. The change contemplated in the first of these three bills would provide for deputy public trustees during the :; absence or illness of a public trustec.: The amendment to the Trustee Act provides for trustee or debtors in in-- fancy or lunacy to make payment to a public trustee instead of to a court as at present. Certain changes in the application for letters of administration by next--of-- kin residing outside the Province are contemplated in the bill to amend the Crown Administration of Estates Act.
