H. Jury of Bowmanville, who donated one of the farms to the school five years ago. Then," he added, "there are the sorvice clubs, the Rotarians and Kiwanis and the women's organizations, and lastly the State--all have contribu-- ted to the cause of the upbringing of Ontario's boyhood. I want you to un-- derstand, boys, that the legislators, many of whom are here today, have your interocsts at heart, and roally care for you. From what I have seen of you in the past, and what I have seen today, I am convinced that you are a good example of the average boy of th> Province." Premicr's Regrets. He brought a message from Promier Ferguson, stating how sorry the latter was in being unable to be present, but promising that h> would be down short-- ly to look them over. He spoke of his own personal interest in the work of the school and of the system outlined by Dr. Reaman, which he considerad was bound to make of the boys self-- roliant men. Among the members of the board who were present for the occasion were: George McLaughlin of Oshawa, Judge Hawley S. Mott of Toronto, George Henley of Toronto and J. H. Jury of Bowmanville. In concluding Mr. Price said: *"I want you to know that the good wishes of the Legislature are with you, and that our hearts go out to you, and you are constantly in our minds." Mr. Scholfield acted as Chairman, and in a short address, told the boys that he expacted to see many of them later in lite as leaders in Ontario com-- mercilal life. Boys at Bowmanvile Are Congratulated on Their Work LEGISLATORS VISIT !SCHOOL INSPECTORS TRAINING SCHOOL FOR RURAL CENTRES i Legislation that provides for the De-- partment of Education "taking over'" all ' rural public school inspectors was in-- 'troduced to the House yesterday by Premier G. Howard Ferguson. The bill, which is known as the School Law Amendment Act of 1930, stipulates that on and after July 1, this year, the salaries, travelling expenses and other expenses of all inspectors, "with the exception of city inspectors," shall be fixed by the Minister of Education and be paid out of the Treasury of the Province. All inspectoral appointments in the rural districts will now be made from the department, and not the munici-- pality. The Prime Minister gave a brief ex-- planation of the measure yesterday, and will discuss it more fully at second reading. It aims, he stated, to give the department more direction over and a closer check on the inspectors. It will also mean an annual saving in salaries to the municipalitiee of approximately $120,000.
