December o Will Modify Immunity Law Protest From Liberals and Conservatives Alike Will Bear Fruit The Jucicature Act amendments sponsored in the Legislature Wed- nesday by Attorney-General Conant will, themselves, be amended when the House meets this afternoon, it was reliably reported Wednes- day. The original amendments, in bill form had no more than been dis- tributed than a general protest— Liberal M.L.A.’s protesting, too—is said to have developed against that section, which would, it is under- stood, give all Government em- ployees or civil servants immunity from court injunctions and similar processes. The situation reached a | climax later when Opposition Lead- | er Macaulay branded the bill as “a retrograde step” and intimated de- termined opposition to it. Consequently, when __ today’s amendments come down the House will learn, it is said, that the Gov- ernment now proposes to extend this immunity only to employees definitely engaged in Succession Duties Branch activities.
