To give you some idea of the increasing cost of old age pensions, let me say that, according to the census of 1921, there were in Ontario at that time f 102,286 persons who were 70 years of age or over. According to the census figures for 1931, the number of persons in Ontarin of 70 years of age or over was 141,293, an in-- crease in ten years of over 39,000 people 70 years of age and over, or an increase of over 38 per cent. The cost of old age pensions to this Government for the fiscal year which closes on March 31 next will exceed $3,250,000, *
