Provision is made whereby a violator of any provision of the act or any one who falsifies any book or record concerning milk, cheese ar hogs, will be liable to a fine of not less than $50 and for each sub-- sequent offense, not less than $200 be more than two cents per pound for cheese produced from milk pro-- duced in this Province, while in the case of hogs the bonus will not be more than $1 per hog for each ani-- mal produced in Ontario and sold through the proper trade channels to be processed, En presenting the act providing for a cheese and hog bonus in On-- tario, to the Legislature yesterday afternoon, Hon. P. M. Dewan, Min-- ister of Agriculture, admitted much of the bonusing would have to be done by regulations. The act provides for the payment, out of the Consolidated Revenue Act, of amounts, fixed by the Licu-- tenant--Governor in Council, for pro-- ducers of cheese and hogs. Bill to Mail Summonses Is Given Second Reading A savingz of $44,000 annually in eourt costs to violators of traffic laws and an enormotus saving to police forces in time, yesterday in the Legislature, was estimated by Attorney--General Conant as the effect of a bill which would permit enforcement officers to mail sum-- monses instead of making personal gervice. The bill arises from recommenda-- tions made by the Legislative Com-- mittee which inquired into the ad-- ministration of justice. Leslie M. Frost (Con., Victoria), and a men-- ber of the committee, termed the purpose of the bill "common sense." The bill, if adopted, will grant the Province authority to pay $12,-- 000 annually to Niagara Falls from 1941 to 1980 in compensation for the taxes lost by such exemption. Mr, McQuesten said the Niagara Parks Commission had taken over business properties in building the approach and would restore some of them, the Province acting as land-- lord. A bachelor's antipathy to the name "Honeymoon Bridge" for the old Niagara Gorge span yesterday was admitted in the Legislature by Hon, T. B.
