MOST STRIKERS . | | Gordon Corrects View on Wallaceburg Strike Hon. A. St. Clair Gordon, Minister Without Portfalio in the Ontario Government, told the Legislature last night that "most of the people who went on strike at the Wallace-- , burg plant of the Dominion Glass Company have gone back to work." Mr. Gordon, who represents Kent West in the Legislature and is chair-- man of the Liquor Control Board, made the statement in reply to W. A,. Duckworth (Prog. Con., Toronto-- Dovercourt) during debate on the motion to appoint a committee to report on collective bargaining. "Oh, Mr. Speaker, that's all wrong," the Minister interjected after Mr. Duckworth asserted that the company would not talk to the employees who were demanding union recognition. Mr. Gordon said a few weeks ago the workers asked for a hboard of conciliation, which was established, § and during the hearing the company, C.LO. and A.F. of L. unions were represented. The commissioner asked if there had been a union in the plant, and then told the C.IL.O. to |get out. Mr. Gordon said there al-- ready was a union, and people had | been paying into it for 38 years. | _A minority of the employees Iwalked out and called a strike, Mr. 'Gordon said,. and many who had paid in dues for 38 years were forced to go out.
