The Ontario Scrapbook Hansard

Legislative Assembly of Ontario

No official Hansard, a record of the debates in the provincial Legislature, was produced before 1944 - Instead the debates were reported in various newspapers, and the provincial archives clipped and collected these reports in a series of scrapbooks.

The Newspaper/Scrapbook Hansard presented here, is a collection of newspaper articles actually clipped from various newspapers whose reporters reported on the goings-on in the Legislature. This Scrapbook Hansard has been microfilmed and digitized.

It includes approximately 10,000-15,000 of the newspaper clippings that provide substantially verbatim transcripts of parliamentary debates and committee proceedings.

These clippings are full-text searchable and have had metadata added to enhance discovery via information like subject, personal & corporate names, dates and more.
