The South Marysburgh Mirror orci: Persoual Notices, ptaucuncements & Random Notes 4 Sale: One Garage Are you planning a garage, contents or lawn sale in June? Send the date, time, location and a little infor- mation about what you're selling to the Mirror at the address on page 3 by the June deadline date and it will be listed free of charge. Now there’s a bar- gain! Thanks... | would just like to take this opportunity to say a ‘Hearty Thank You’ to all of my friends and neigh- bours who helped me out over the winter, snow blowing, getting my mail etc.. and just generally checking inonme. Sandy Blackford. Use it or lose it You may have heard that Canada Post has just im- plemented a series of changes to the system. Apart from increases in prices for postage (including The Mirror), the corporation has reduced rural post offic- es’ hours. Our local Milford P.O., for instance, has been cut 10 hours per week. That operating cost re- duction doesn’t come out of our pocket, it comes out of Shaila’s, our postmistress. If we want to maintain a local post office, we need to use its services more frequently, and buy postal products in Milford instead of elsewhere. There is a variety of products Shaila would be happy to sell you including packaging supplies, phone cards, pre-paid credit cards and so on. Then there are postal products such as collector stamp sets and coin sets that are not available in the small postal outlets. And if you’re renting a P.O. box in the Picton post office, why not consider moving it to Milford. Let’s give Shaila a hand to increase her sales volume and achieve her daily quota so we can con- tinue to take advantage of her exemplary service. Thanks again... Thank you to the following volunteers who made the 2014 Easter Parade and Egg Hunt a wonderful event. Karen and Doug Gyde for purchasing and dis- tributing the chocolate eggs at the Fair Grounds. Also, for resisting the temptation to eat them all be- forehand. Janna McCarthy and Lynette Pettit decorat- ed the parade route with the plastic eggs. Christine Renaud and the Ann Farwell Li- brary for organizing the Easter bonnet decorating. Over 60 people took part in this event. Barb Proctor judged the eight entries in the colouring contest; Catherine Reilly arranged the prizes; and librarian Cathy distributed the prizes to the winners. The parade was marshaled by Philip Knox and traffic control provided by Brent Walker with the South Marysburgh Rescue Van, Michael Pettit and Mendy Berkson. Sandie Blackford, along with Janet and Les- ley Richardson, served over 14 dozen hot dogs along with coffee and hot chocolate. A special thanks to them for adapting when the stove quit during the preparation. Jennifer Ackerman brought her horse to the parade and took children on rides around the Fair Grounds after the Egg Hunt. Finally, the South Marysburgh Recreation Committee for organizing this annual event.
