2 The Assembly of Gentlemen Helen Ward For reasons the members themselves don't quite comprehend, the former ac(cid:415)ng secretary of the Assembly of Gentlemen failed to send reports of their mee(cid:415)ngs to the South Marysburgh Mirror for the past several months. Sensing something amiss, the member with numerous alphabe(cid:415)cal designa(cid:415)ons following his last name created a recap report based on his and others recollec(cid:415)ons of mee(cid:415)ngs. "Our newly minted recording secretary will be more on top of things and will possess a be(cid:425)er filing system," he stated in his submission for this edi(cid:415)on. "We have a lot of ground to cover to catch up so discusses plumbing and answers ques(cid:415)ons Intricacies fit in what you can." To that end, 'fit' was the theme of a presenta(cid:415)on by Milford resident and former B&B owner, Helen Ward on August 29th. Her talk, en(cid:415)tled "Varia(cid:415)ons and of Canadian and English Plumbing Standards: A Case the Challenges", was well received by members in a(cid:425)endance that morning. Following what was described as an animated presenta(cid:415)on, Helen fielded ques(cid:415)ons about her research methodology and addi(cid:415)onal projects she had in the offing, including travelling to the UK to collect further data presenta(cid:415)ons. "I know seems nonsensical to have different dimensions of plumbing but it is clearly evident between North America and Europe, 'innit'?" she asked in her dis(cid:415)nct English accent. Sensing where the conversa(cid:415)on might go and facing (cid:415)me constraints because of a lengthy agenda, the Chair thanked Helen for her informa(cid:415)ve presenta(cid:415)on and offered her an invita(cid:415)on to update the AoG when she returned from the UK in the New Year. Study for of it The South Marysburgh Mirror The blustery, blizzard condi(cid:415)ons that prevailed during late January and early February were the basis of conversa(cid:415)ons during several mee(cid:415)ngs of the group. The member whose residency in the Greater Milford Area (GMA) far eclipsed that of others could not recall such sudden turns of the weather. "But I've seen worse, just not so quick," he said. "The winter of '78, it was bad. And '10, that wasn't good either." Pressed to explain, he con(cid:415)nued, "A few years ago, when it was real cold for the carnival on the millpond, that was bad too. That's when we had to form our ERU, Emergency Response Unit." "I remember that one," added another member. "When the guy driving the back hoe was clearing the ice and fell through. Sank pre(cid:425)y quickly. We tried to help the guy, too. Then we started calling him a submarine commander." "We sure did," agreed the designated member, "and the ERU got called up again when Jen Ackerman's horse fell into the ditch. We were all out of here like rockets trying to help." The mee(cid:415)ng held last week was adjourned but not without a couple of items added to future agendas. "Live Laugh Eat is up for sale," stated a member, "so we need to discuss where we're going to go next. We were at Hicks, then it closed. Then we were at a place on the other side of the millpond, now we're here and it's closing." Sensing something of a pa(cid:425)ern between the longevity of local businesses who have hosted the AoG and available local op(cid:415)ons, the bespectacled li(cid:415)gator who had been quietly listening to and observing the conversa(cid:415)on said, "The only one that fits the bill is The Bistro."
