|The South Marysburgh Mirror St. Philip’s Roots ‘n Wings Celebrate Earth Hour at St. Philip's On March 29 at 8 pm people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour-Earth Hour! Last year the World Wildlife Fund-Australia held the first earth hour. Over two million people took part. There was a 10% reduction on the electric grid, saving 25,000 tons of carbon dioxide. The equivalent of this would be to take about 50,000 cars off the road for one hour. This year with the whole world taking part this one simple action will make an even bigger difference! Climate change is the biggest environmental threat to our planet and the number one concern to Canadians. We need to power down. When turned off but still plugged in appliances can continue to drain energy. Television sets can be using up to 70 watts of power, printers up to 12 watts and stereos up to 30 watts. Unplug. Participating in Earth Hour is a way to show that we want to be part of the solution. On Saturday, March 29, turn off your lights and come to St. Philip's. The candles will be lit by 8 pm and we will spend the hour celebrating the beautiful world we have been given. If you would like to, bring a short reading or po- em, a brief song or prayer to share. Let Earth Hour be one step in our journey together to take better care of our world! To Help Our Milford Library Blossom Gardener Extraordinaire Donald McClure to Speak On Easter Saturday, March 22, the Friends of the Milford Library will be at the Milford Town Hall to take orders for summer bulbs and seeds as a fund raiser for improvements to our lively library.
