South Marysburgh enjoys the enviable reputation of the ward with the highest participation in this civic activi- ty. Almost 100% of our roads are picked up during trash bash, leaving us with unlittered roads and a justified sense of civic pride. Your participation is especially welcome this year, Milford’s 200th Anniversary. Our goal is 100% of the roads in South Marysburgh litter-picked during the week, Many prefer to pick up earlier in the week. No tule says you have to do it on Saturday and in a way sug- gested by the Trash Bash Committee. As long as it gets done, the end is accomplished. Just wear some bright clothes so you won’t get bashed by an automobile. This year, as in past years, there will be sign up sheets and packages including garbage bags, gloves, and signage at several locations around the county, including Hicks General Store. Please read the new information sheet included in the kit. Many citizens pick up our roads without signing up, and that’s fine, though if you take the time to sign up and spe- cifically describe the road you’re picking up, there won’t be confusion with others who mean to pick up the same stretch you are. For the past few years there’s been an unhealthy tendency for some especially ignorant people to deposit tires along the roadways just prior to Trash Bash. They assume their tires will be picked up so these selfish and cheap citizens will save the five bucks deposit charge. Well, they both missed it so much that as of the weekend after the 2007 event, both were signed up for the September 2008 event. If you wish to support either of these members of the community please visit their per- sonal web pages at www.endcancer.ca. Each participant in the walk is required to raise a minimum of $2000 just to participate. Annette has set her goal at $3,200. In the meantime Barb has arranged for a few fund raisers to assist in raising the $3000 goal that she has set for herself. The first of these fundraisers is through a company called Timeless Essentials and each of their products are all natural bath & body products as well as some food items. The deadline for orders is April 18 so that the items can be made (fresh at the time of ordering) and delivered to you for Mother's Day. So be sure to think of Mother Earth and your own mother on Mother's Day this year and place an order through Barb at 613-476-3757, and she can e-mail an order list of items to you or print out a list and get it to your mailbox. The next fundraiser will be held Tuesday April 22nd (Earth Day) at Harmanie Yoga Studio in Bloomfield. This is an open class for anyone to attend.
