Getting Ahead of the Game: Advance Sign-up for the Parade We are always happy to see people coming along and signing up for the parade, which starts at 11:00 a.m. at the South Marysburgh School grounds. The more the better, and we hope you'll join in. There are lots of entrant categories and lots of prizes. Howev- er, while we have lots of races at the fairgrounds, we're trying to eliminate the one at the school. That's the mad dash to get everyone signed up for the parade before it starts. Even though sign-up starts at 10:00 a.m. at the School grounds, up to two-thirds of the participants ar- rive in the last fifteen or twenty minutes. Sam Lanfran- co, the parade organizer, is adding a couple of optional ways to sign up so that you can do it in advance. There are sign-up forms at Hicks General Store, or you can even get a copy on the Intemet at www.lanfranco.net/ parade. Or you can still sign up the old-fashioned way when you get to the parade grounds. Fare for the Fair Every year the Food Booth feeds lots of hungry people thanks to the volunteers behind the counter -- and the volunteers who prepare and bring food for the booth. Once again the “Food Booth sub-committee” has asked for donations of sandwiches and pies to be brought to the food booth. Fruit pies, but no cream pies. They’ve asked me to remind you again that all donations of sand- wiches and fruit pies will be greatly appreciated. Call Barbara Gates at 613-476-2689 if you have any ques- tions. Further Fare Our annual barbeque supper will begin in the shed at 5:30 pm. This year it's going to be a beef barbeque, and the master chef will be Paul Harvey from Heritage Hall. He'll be selling beef on a bun during the day as well. As always, there will be a show as part of the banquet. This year it's the County's "Patsy Cline", Lorain Sine and her Continued on page 19 The Hub of the Universe A Video History of Milford This 72 minute DVD is now available. Written and nar- rated by Janet Kellough with music by Jeane Arseneault and Billy Ostrander, it covers the 200 year history and life in Milford. Fifteen citizens have been in- terviewed over the past eight years and tell their stories of growing up in Milford in the days before hydro as well as more recent community initiatives. The hardest part of this project was selecting short clips from the approxi- mately twelve hours of footage, says Bruce Dowdell, who edited the DVD. Janet and Bruce have tried to cap- ture the community spirit that has always existed in Mil- ford over the past 200 years. The DVD will be available at the Milford Fair along with other CDs and Books by our talented and local singers and writers.
