[16 |, The South Marysburgh Mirror LIBRARY NOTES Jit, A recent meeting of the Friends of the Ann Far- well Branch has resulted in a new feature at the Milford library. The Friends have decided to purchase a one year toy lending library membership from the Prince Edward Childcare Services Resource Centre. Susan McDonald has taken charge of the initiative and will bring two to three new toys, every two weeks, for the enjoyment of our youngest patrons. Bring your little ones to see what new toys are in the library while you relax with a book or magazine. Another initiative that the Friends are considering, provided there is interest, is the support of the County of Prince Edward Public Library’s tutoring program. The tu- toring program provides one-on-one help by a certified teacher to students of all grade levels. Currently, the pro- gram runs out of the Picton branch, but if there is interest in having tutoring by appointment at the Milford branch, the Friends would fund the service. Anyone interested can con- tact me at the library at 613-476-4130. The Friends of the Ann Farwell branch meet the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the library, and all are welcome. Did you know that we have many magazines at the library, and many titles that may not be in your local branch are still available to you? In order not to duplicate costs, and to offer the widest possi- ble selection, The County of Prince Edward Public Library has select titles at the various branches, so if the one you are looking for is not at your local branch, don’t hesitate to ask library staff to look up titles for you or you can also look on the library’s online catalogue to find the one you would like. We also have a steady stream of new books com- ing into the library and a New Books List is produced regu- larly. If you would like to be notified when a New Book List comes out, we can send the list to you by e-mail. Just speak to us at the library or go to the library website at www.peclibrary.org and click on “Contact us”. Great Girl’s Sleepover a fabulous time! The Mil- ford branch hosted its first ever Girl’s Library Sleepover on Sunday, October 26" and what great fun it was. Eight girls attended and decorated pumpkins, told ghost stories and, eventually, even slept! Thanks to all who participated. On November 18", Jennifer Kingma will be re- turning from her matemity leave to resume her duties as Branch Manager in Milford. Jenn is looking forward to get- ting back in the swing of things and looks forward to seeing everyone in the library. I will be moving on as Branch Manager in Picton.
