The power to resolve our fears and challenges almost always lies in our own hands. The issue is how to find the courage to confront them and take action. Belief in a higher power, prayer and med- itation are all ways in which we can try to fortify our- selves. For those who do not acknowledge or have not yet discovered these gifts of life, other ways to find assistance must be sought out. In our Canada of 2010 there are many sources of help to be accessed if you have the knowledge, experience and training for the task. Unfortunately it is often the most vulnerable in our communities who face the big- gest giants in their lives and they fall through the ‘cracks’ of the often fragile safety net that is part of our social and health network.
