Rural Mail Drawer Retiring We'll miss you Mary! Mary Creasy, who has been delivering the mail to Rural Route 2, Milford. has retired. She will no longer be driving up to your door with the mail to save you a walk to the mailbox in the rain, taking an unstamped letter to the post office and buying your stamp, delivering a message from another neighbour to you on her way by. Mary has been performing these little services, and many more, over the years, and will be missed because of them. One rather fussy old soul would insist that Mary carry the parcel into the house and set it on the kitchen table, rather than taking it from her at the door when she brought it to the house to save this old person a walk. But this was the exception, most folks appreciated the little "extras" that were done for them. Mrs. Creasy started delivering the mail in 1965, and has been doing so, with little time off, ever since. She has handed over her route to Wilma Creasy, her sister-in-law, keeping it in the family, so to speak. Mrs. Mitchell, who has delivered the mail to RR #3, Picton, for more years than anyone can remember, is also retiring. Her last day is Friday, 5 October, when she will go into a well deserved retirement Not only are having a change in personnel, but we are also having a change in postal service. No longer will mail be deliverd to Milford on Saturday, or picked up from there either. The familiar sight of Mrs. Mitchell, making her Saturday dash tothe Post Office in Milford for this delivery, will be no more. Canada Post, rather than offering faster, more efficient service, is reducing the service, seemingly, everywhere. The strain this reduction in service, will be felt not only by us the customers, but also by the postal employees, who have to answer our complaints. Try to remember when talking to a "postie' that they are only responsible for so much, the rest is the fault of Canada Post.
