There are things in this township worthy of mention and celebration, that somehow get oeverlooked in the hustle and bustle of Christmas. One of these is the wedding anniversary of Norman and Edith Ackerman cof Royal Street. On December 16th, they were married 72 years. their wedding having taken place in 1820. Norman was born and raised on the family farm on which he and his wife have lived most of their married life. He attended Royal Street School and went on to join the Army Air Corp in World War |, spending six months at the air base at Deseronto. After the war he returned to farming, continuing that occupation the rest of his working life. Edith was born at Bongard's Corners. For a time when a young woman, she clerked at Bristol's, a clothing and shoe store after which the Bristol Building in Picton is named. Mrs. Ackerman and her two sisters and a brother, made it into the Ripley's Believe It or Not, for all celebrating their Goiden Wedding Anniversary (50th). The Ackermans had three chiidren, George, of Milford; David, of Peterborough; and Erma of Kingston. They have nine Jrandchiidren and seven great-grandchiidren. Our congratuiations to the Ackermans, and may they continue to enjoy the years together.
