= The South Marysburgh Mirror | | i The September 7th meeting was held at 7.30 p.m. at Milford Town Hall. Our president, Dora Barth, opened the meeting with the gem "The virtues of hard work are extolled most loudly by those without callouses." "The Best Medicine" was Effie Ross' thought for the day. Roll call of "Sing, say or pay" brought forth many humorous anecdotes plus a forfeit from those who didn't have one. Our secretary, Jane Miller, presented a very full and correct report from our last meeting. A letter from Victoria Emlaw was read to the group. She is one of forty young people in Ontario who has been selected to do volunteer work in Costa Rica for 2 1/2 months. The members of Friendship Circle voted a donation to Youth Challenge International to help defray her expenses. "Almost Home" (a place to stay for parents and siblings of a child in hospital in Kingston) sent us a letter requesting financial assistance but we are holding this over till November when we make our other donations. Our treasurer, Wilma Creasy, acquainted us with our financial situation and attended to payment of bills. Ticket sales from our raffle quilt have been pleasingly brisk. The float committee for Milford Fair presented the theme of 50 years after W.W. II. It was approved and volunteers assigned to their positions. Mary Creasy reported that our flower basket quilt has been sold. She notified us of a sale of quilt tops, material, etc. that might be used by the group. ~The ladies selling tickets on our raffle quilt at the Milford Fair were allotted their times. A new venture this year at Milford Fair is a sneak preview of the crafts, quilts, etc. we will be seeing at our Fall Tea in October. Our hostesses, Marie Kavanagh and Effie Ross, were thanked by Marg Purcell for a delightful lunch.
