The South Marysburgh Mirror FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE NOTES Milford Community Friendship Circle ladies held their November meeting in South Marysburgh Township Hall. President, Dora Barth, welcomed the nineteen members and one visitor with the timely thought, 'A house is built with wood and stone but a home is built with love.' Marie Kavanagh read "Reflections" and an Armistice Day poem for thought for the day. Roll call was answered by telling of a family Christmas tradition. Minutes of the October meeting were read by Secretary June Miller. Collection and birthday donations were given. The President thanked the ladies for their help with the Harvest Tea, and it as decided that we would have the tea earlier next year. It was moved by Marie Kavanagh and seconded by Mary Parsons that the tea would be on October 19th next year. Dora Barth was voted most helpful member and received the Plaque for the year. The new quilt was shown and it was decided to make another autographed quilt. Treasurer's report was given by treasurer Wilma Creasy. Donations were given to Christian Children's Fund Treats for Happiness, Picton Salvation Army, Ann Farwell Public Library Milford, South Marysburgh Recreation Committee for Winter Carnival, Children's Aid, Marysburgh Mummers for flush fund, Alzheimer's Society, Almost Home, Prince Edward Memorial Hospital, Community Care for Seniors, Garratt Island Farm Retreat and Milford 4 H Club. Sunshine bags were distributed for Alzheimer's Society. Thank you letters were sent to those who helped with Fair float and with selling the quilt tickets. It was moved by Alice Miller and seconded by Mary Parsons that all outstanding bills be paid. Soup recipes were discussed. It was moved by Muriel Rorabeck and seconded by Mary Parsons that Alice Miller write the history of the Friendship Circle to be published in the South Marysburgh Mirror. A Chinese auction was conducted by Alice Miller. The hostesses, Jean Burrows and Florence Wierstra were thanked for the delicious lunch by Mary Parsons. Press Reporter - Muriel Rorabeck COMING EVENTS Friendship Circle Christmas pot luck supper will be held in Milford Town Hall on Saturday December 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Please ring your own dishes and cutlery and $1.00 gifts - a man to bring one for a man and a lady to bring one for a lady. A fun evening of cards and games will follow. The Marysburgh Mummers present: "THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER" The hilarious story of a woman and her husband to put on the annual church Christmas pageant despite having to cast the Herdman kids - you won't believe the mayhem - and the fun - when the Herdmans meet the Christmas story in a head-on collision. One of the best Christmas stories ever - and certainly one of the funniest! MT. TABOR PLAYHOUSE, MILFORD December 15th & 16th - 7:30 pm Matinee - Sunday, December 17th - 2:30 pm Directed by Richard Sunnucks Milford Fairboard Report On Saturday, November 18th, a good number of happy fair organizers, volunteers and their guests held a delicious potluck dinneer at the Town Hall in Milford. Those attending chose the 1996 theme name "Milford Golden Jubilee Fair" as suggested by Sid Drury. Sid will receive as a prize for his suggestion, two free dinners at the 1996 fair. A video of the 1995 fair, donated by John Cross, will be available for viewing through the Ann Farwell Library.
