I ill | I MUMMERS The Marysburgh Mummers are at it again! This time the cast 1s bigger. and working hard to be better (big shoes to fill though!). We have chosen another family favourite for this year's spring musical: The Sound of Music. Yes, the von Trapps have invaded Mt. Tabor and, along with the nuns chorus, have been raising the roof with their voices. I am so excited about this production. We have only had a few practices so far, but already I know it's going to be an amazing show. And, yes, I know I say that for every production we do, but WOW. can these people sing! You will definitely not want to miss this one! It all started with auditions in carly February. We knew we were in for an interesting time, when about 50 people showed up! We had people of all ages, all interested in either acting, singing or helping out behind the scenes. It was a little overwhelming at first, but what a great feeling to know that this many people are interesting in live community theatre and they have to come to Milford to get it! (Just one on a long list of great things about South Marysburgh!) So, after several hours of auditions, and then the agonizing decision process, the cast has been set and rehearsals have started! Everyone who wanteda part, has one. Which means basically there are about 40 - people in the cast, not including the 25-30 women in the nun's chorus! Amazing! You are in for one heck of a show! It almost makes me want to quit my part so that I can experience it from the audience...well almost. 1 think I thrive on the backstage chaos too much to give it up! The nun's chorus has been busy learning the Latin chants, which is no easy task, but after 3 practices, they are already sounding great. Our chorus is made up of women from the Mummers, The Sweet Adelines, Command Performance and South Bay Church Choir, as well as a few other talented singers who love to sing. The Sound of Music is scheduled to run April 17, 18, 19, 24.25 & 26. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 pm and Sunday shows are 2:00 pm. Tickets will be available on or around March 6.
