And much as I would like to blame those dear souls that form the government. | have to remind those who feel that this government is not responding to the needs of the governed that they were all duly elected. Hey folks. they are there because we put them there. Try to remember that the next election. Their latest contretemps. releasing the name of a juvenile offender by way of identifying the mother. in a speech from the throne while patting themselves on the back for the fine job they are doing points out their disregard for the law. Nothing will convince me that this identifying information could possible have slipped by all the people whose job it is to edit and verify the content of the speech. And the mother had no right to bask in the reflected glory of the government's marvellous programme at the expense of her son. But what is all the fuss about? After all the kid had no future anyway. And speaking of kids with no future there are going to be a lot more of them as money is taken from the educational system. Come on teachers. If you really have a plan that makes the educational system effective and economical (and please note which word I put first), then tell us what itis. As long as all we hear are rants about how much harder you are going to have to work and see examples in our community of teachers who are spending more time complaining than teaching, you are going to find little support. A new ceiling was put on the large back room which was then painted together with the walls and a wooden floor was put into the front room. In order to allow the renovators access. most of the displays had to be disassembled and stored in boxes. However plans are already under way to restore them to their original or better condition. The Museum already had a considerable quantity of material. much of it of great significance to the marine history of Prince Edward County and Eastern Lake Ontario. New material, however, is always needed: both to develop new displays and to expand the exi sting ones. If anybody has material, or knows of material, which could be donated to the museum it will be gratefully received. The "Friends of the Museum" needs volunteers to help with a large variety of tasks and anyone who has "spare" time to donate is urged to contact the curator or one of the Local Advisory Committee members. Opening day is planned for May 16th.
