I was glad to see the museum and fair ground and ball diamond looking so good. I even think the school yard has been better kept this summer. The Town Hall and the Library could do with a goat to nibble around the edges. Surely one of the Friends of the Library owns a weed whip and could spare the 15 minutes it would take to tidy around the edges and that wonderful tomb stone by the front door. (I often wonder if the stone is there to be the final resting place of lapsed librarians.) And no this is not 'pick on librarians' day. Our librarians are doing a sweet job - couldn't do better - and they don't have the time to take care of the outside of the building too. The rest of my list of complaints includes such things as the road to Long Point - a small car could get lost in the pot holes or rattled to death in the washboards. I still think the county figures that roads stop at C herry Valley on the west and the turn off to Waupoos on the east. I can't remember when I've seen more traffic past our house than this summer. Don't know where folks are going but since this isn't a short cut to North Marysburgh I have to assume they are heading south. Then there are the Canadian flags that people insist on leaving up although they look like the rag off a lumber truck or a left over from Bosnia. Most poles aren't high enough to be a danger to low flying aircraft so it's safe to take those red dusters down. Nobody's going to run into them. Lots of things coming up. The Mariners' Service will be held in a couple of weeks.
