I! I INT MI im Wil " i ; i Hi il - LIBRARY NOTES Heavens, Look at the Time! Two and a half years ago I walked through the door of the Ann Farwell Public Library for the first time. It was a lively beginning for one of the most interesting times in my working life. I had quite a few challenges facing me. The triple perils of government cutbacks, amalgamation and automation loomed ahead while I had the immediate problem of keeping enough books on the shelf to ensure that library users were suitably informed and entertained, all in 17 hours a week. Fortunately, it was lots of fun and I had plenty of help along the way. Support for the library and its projects has always been spirited and generous. Truly, it has been a privilege to serve in this community. As many farewells as be stars in heaven... Every meeting eventually leads to a parting, and it's time for me to go. Recently I have accepted work with the Hastings and Prince Edward District Board of Education as a Library Technician. What can 1 say? They offered me twice as much money plus unlimited opportunities to expand and develop my skills. I just want to say that I have had a wonderful time in your library and I will miss you all. I would never forgive myself if I left without saying something profound about the occasion. Since I'm not too handy that way, I thought I would let William Shakespeare do it for me. Time is like a fashionable host, That slightly shakes his parting guest by the hand, And with his arms outstretched, as he would fly, Grasps in the comer: welcome ever smiles, And farewell goes out sighing.
