Milford Fair, September 15 Much that's old, Some that's new If you look just below the surface of the township, many good citizens are currently meeting in small groups, planning, making arrangements, and getting ready to take action. Does it sound like they are plotting for an uprising? Well, they are. In this case, however, it's an uprising that reminds ali of us of the good things that surround us, and we do it once a year. We call it the "Milford Fair". It's a great chance to have fun, to feel how strong our sense of community is, to celebrate the bounty of nature and the skill in things crafted by hand and heart. There's nothing much new in any of that -but each of these 'old' things brings a magic to the Fair that renews all of us. The surroundings and the fair-goers add spice to the mix, but above all those who participate, enter competitions, put on displays and provide entertainment make the magic. That's where you come in. And please do be ready to come in, bearing fruits and vegetables and crafts for the competitions. Or start training for the canoe race, or getting in shape for the log- sawing competition. Polish up that classic car or make costumes for the kids, and join the parade. Speaking of competitions, there 's a new one this year. It's for amateur wine-makers, and we'd like you put your best vintages front and centre. Now, for the hopefuls it's not a wine-~tasting party for everyone - just the judge. In a way, the winemaking contest reflects how this county is old -- and new -- at the same time. Also, as mentioned in the Mirror a few months ago, the whole Needlework section has been revamped The competition categories / prize list and entry forms will be out by mid-August, and available at Hicks' Store, the Cheese Factory, andthe Ann Farwell hibrary. We hope to hear from you.
