They were happier that way, I think. - George Underhill Eek ¥ UCKY STARS - Lucky Us!!! cee This is the first time I have ever written a review so I'm not really sure how to write this up, folks, but bear with me because it's certainly worth my time and effort to tell you that the play - The Affections of May - directed by Knowlton Hunter, stage-managed by Shannon Hunter, and put on by Lucky Star Productions, can only be expressed in superlatives. I feel so fortunate to have had the good luck to have seen this play. First of al, the choice of the play, 'written by Norm Foster, was a perfect choice. It was a funny, witty and wise adult comedy." The theme was a mix of the battle of the country mouse and the city mouse, something most of us here can easily identify with. The 'City Mice', May (Jennifer Warr) and Brian Henning (Bernie Gaw), have optimistically moved to the country although one of them fits in better than the other. The "Country Mice', Quinn (Knowlton Hunter) and Hank Beavis (John McCarthy), all of you who have lived long enough in The County will have met more than once in certain individuals, I'm sure. The enthusiasm of the actors was flawless and delightful, and a joy to watch. In no time at all, one found oneself caring so much about these four fascinating, funny characters. The actors took us right in to their lives effortlessly, and with such superb acting skills that the audience became at one with the play. We went back to a better place' where 'time heals all wounds' in a setting we ourselves may find familiar - that of an old house needing repairs to cupboards, doors, and drafts, and wood split and piled, and finding someone who knows how to do all that. The stage set was tasteful and homey; the play is a reminder of the meaning of friendship. I thank MY lucky stars that I had the chance to see this play, and will surely make Lucky Stars Productions number one on my must see list from now on. You will find Jen and Knowlton as warm and friendly as their program says they find us. Mt.
