"We urge people to use these complementary bags only, as the digester is not capable of biodegrading common household plastic bags." Sprague says a bench has been installed near the end of the trail by dog park members, and during summer, water is provided. Recently, an extension to the trail has been added, creating a full loop. Heres a look ahead to the first 4 films of the new year. Films are on alternate Mondays as usual, but with a new, improved, starting time: 7:30 pm. Mon., Jan 7: 'Bread and Tulips' - Italian director Silvio Soldini gives us a comedy/drama take on the wife leaving a lousy marriage to start a new life story. Good reviews and a noble pedigree; think 'Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore',' Shirley Valentine', "Thelma and Louise, etc. ..all turn out to be much better than the synopsis makes them sound. (I wonder what this story would be like if a woman directed the film?) Rated AA. Mon., Jan 21: 'Kandahar -when this film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept 8, 2001, it seemed not many people were interested in a film about Afghanistan and the Taliban government. Since then director Moshen Makhmalbaf's story of a Canadian journalist who returns to Afghanistan to visit her sister has become the source of many people's images of life there under the Taliban. Unrated, but for mature audiences. Mon., Feb 4: 'Liam' - Cinefest is always ready to present a Stephen Frears movie. This one tells the story of the Sullivan family in depression era Liverpool, from the point of view of the youngest family member, Liam. Frears is the most eclectic director I can think of, having made a success of such varied projects as 'Dangerous Liaisons', 'Prick up your Ears', and 'My Beautiful Launderette'. Rated R. Mon., Feb 18: 'Innocence' - Another director with a varied body of work is the Australian Paul Cox, who has made "Vincent: The Life and Death of Vincent van Gogh', 'Man of Flowers', and 'Molokai: The Story of Father Damien'. Innocence' is a love story with a twist: the protagonists are both 70 years old, a fact which of course doomed the movie in first run. Cox creates vivid, particular characters in his own transparent style, and has built an appreciative audience for his work over the past 20 years. Rated R.
