Barb Guernsey Every year, many of the 12,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer will lose their hair as a result of medical treatments. Other children are diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, a hereditary condition that results in total hair loss over the entire body. Some children lose their hair as a result of burns. And some chil- dren develop a psychological condition that causes them to pull out their own hair uncontrollably. (to find out more visit www, wigsforkids.org) So far for my project I have raised almost $1,000.00 in fundraising such as craft sales and draws. My next fundraising event takes place April 24th, 2004. My challenge to you is that you help me reach my goal of an- other $1,000.00. Why so much? It takes up to 12 ponytails and $1,500 to design and create the hair systems, each of which is painstakingly constructed to meet the individual needs of the recipient. If my goal is met I will have my head shaved at 4:00 p.m. on April 24th. The public is wel- come to come to our Chapter at 18 Talbot Street, Picton, on that date to see if my goal is met. If it's not met, I will still be having 10-12" cut off. We will have a smorgasbord to follow at 4:30 till 6:00 p. m. in the Hail for those interested. ($10.00 for adults, $5.00 for the kids) Throughout the day at the hall we will have others getting their hair cut to donate to Wigs for Kids too. If your hair is 10-12" long, not permed or colour-treated and with- out any grey hairs and you wish to donate it to this worthy Worthy Matron LIL' DIPPER | EXCAVATING / WELDING SERVICES | FULL SIZE & MINI BACKHOE SERVICES Kubota L-48 and B-21 Loader/Hoe 12, 16, 18 & 24" buckets Waterlines Trenching Driveways Grading Stump Removal Septic Systems Underground Hydro SPECIALTY WELDING Aluminum, Brass, Cast, Stainless Steel Arc-Mig, Heavy Equipment Farm Equipment Repairs Heavy Equipment Repairs Propeller & Marine Repairs Custom Trailers 30 Years Experience Ralph Douglas 2697 County Rd. 13, Picton 476-3433
