April, 2006 Soin aip's Published for and about County Hot Spots Your Neighbourhood Library Branch The County of Prince Edward Public Library is pleased to announce that wireless internet access is now available at all six of our branches. Anyone in the area can now bring their laptops, PDAs or other wireless ready de- vices to any one of our branches and access the internet for FREE. For the technically-inclined, it is important to note that all sites are 802.11b/g compatible. (If that sounds like gibberish to you, library staff are ready and willing to help you get connected) This new service also means that if a library branch is closed, it is usually possible to access the internet from outside the building with your own wireless laptop, PDA or other device. The Centre controls admissions to nursing homes, co-ordinates services such as in-home nursing and homemaking so the elderly can remain in their residences as long as possible. The Access Centre pro- vides services for about 2,800 people daily; has 80 full- time staff and an annual budget of around $23 million funded by the Ministry of Health. It is interesting to note that the County is well rep- resented on the board since Vic Alyea from Hillier was also appointed and John Hill of Picton was re-appointed for another term. VOLUME XX, Number 4 local people and events Trash Bash on April 22nd In an amazing burst of civic pride, unmatched by any other area of the County, the residents of South Marysburgh cleaned up 100% of our highways and by- ways in 2005. A year has passed, and a small number of swine have once again littered our roads. This year, you can register and select your road at Hicks General Store. In the back room is a map where you can highlight the road you plan to clean, a registra- tion form, and a kit with plastic bags, gloves and signs. The landfill will be open for trash bashers on the 22" for deposit of the litter you have collected, or you can take it to the Crystal Palace and have free coffee, hot dogs, ham- burgers and pop. It is important that those who are participating take a moment to register the road areas you are cleaning up so that we can be certain that we maintain our 100% record.
