The South Marysburgh Mirror | Shed Dance | Saturday August 19th, 2006 9pm - lam $15/Couple In the shed at the Milford Fairgrounds Milford Fair - Continued from page 1 they go by. If you have a convertible and would be willing to drive it in the parade give Steven a call at 613-476-6838. It doesn't have to be one from 1946! As in past years, Steve would welcome everyone who wants to join the pa- rade. If you want to march, to enter your car -- convertible or not, all are welcome, to enter a float, or enter anything that moves, you can start by entering the South Marysburgh school grounds no later than 10:30 a.m. to register for the parade. Call Steve for any information. WE KNOW THAT THEY HAD BEAUTIFUL BABIES IN 1946 That's one thing that hasn't changed, either, and we'll have the winner of the 1946 baby show on hand to hand out this year's prizes. Do you remember who it was? SOME SHOW DISPLAYS ARE TIMELESS That includes handcrafted work. We have been seeing the number of entries decline though, as there seem to be fewer people who have the interest, skill and time to devote to such things as knitting, embroidery and patchwork quilts. Still, there are lots of people producing beautiful work, and we encourage you to submit some of it so that all the fair- goers can see the fine examples of the living heritage of this area. Prize categories have been revised, so look for the Fair Booklet when it comes out shortly. BOOKLET AND POSTER PRIZES If you do look for the Fair Booklet, the first thing that you will see is a cover drawn by Kirstie Ross, our first- prize winner in the booklet cover contest. Every year our school children draw posters for the Fair, and we congratu- late Kirstie as well as Mackenzie Miller, who won second prize, and Emily Vangrouthest, who won third prize in the posters intended for the booklet cover. All the children who draw for the Fair do a great job and show lots of imagination. You probably have al- ready seen some of their posters hanging in one store or an- other as advertisements. Congratulations to the three prize- winners in the poster contest: Zac Brant was first, Miranda Miller was second, and Sam Kuipers was third. ONE CONTEST IS GOING ENTIRELY TO THE DOGS Ever since we' ve relocated the cat and dog show and changed the start time (West side of the shed at 1:00 pm) it's grown by leaps and bounds, or at least by leaping and bounding dogs. No so much cats, who aren't given to that kind of exuberance. In fact just one cat was entered in the show last year. The Fair Board has concluded that the crowds, and the dogs, and the heat make it too uncomfort- able for cats so this year there will just be the dog show. Of Continued on page 13
