12 / May 2023 The South Marysburgh Mirror Happy Ending for Lost Child Contributed by Mike Bond Thanks to the quick think- ing of Paula and Bob Kelly of Vagabond Cove Cottages on Wil-O-Lea Lane a lost child was very quickly found and a potential disastrous situation was averted. About 40 minutes before dark on Easter Monday neigh- bours near the end of Good- man Crescent were notified that a three-year-old child was missing. Very quickly most neighbours started searching the area. About this time Paula and Bob Kelly were looking out their front window and no- ticed a very young child in their yard. Thinking this was unusual and that a parent must be close behind Paula went out to make sure and when she didn’t see anyone fol- lowing realized the boy was on his own. She calmly started to talk to the boy with the intention of making sure he didn’t wonder into the woods or farther up the road. Within minutes the boy’s fa- ther who was coming home from a trip to town drove up and the situation ended satisfactorily. A happy ending for everyone involved. Thanks to the quick thinking by Paula and Bob what might have been a long search in the dark was avoided.
