14/ October 2023 The South Marysburgh Mirror Roots and Wings St. Philip’s Anglican Church -By Elizabeth Hill The Fall is in full swing at St. Philip’s, with lots going on! We hope you can join us for any (or possibly all?) of our upcoming events. The first is the Blessing of the Animals — a service of thanksgiving for all the crea- tures that make our lives just that much better. This is a worldwide celebration held in early October of the Feast of Saint Francis — the patron saint of animals and the environ- ment. Come to the church at 44 St Philip Street on Wednesday, October 4", at 5:30 p.m. And don’t worry if it is cold or rainy, as we will be IN the church! All pets, farm animals, companions of any kind, are more than welcome, come to the church to receive a blessing, stay for a pet treat. Then on Saturday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m., we are pleased to host a Fraud Preven- tion presentation with OPP De- tachment Commander, Acting Staff Sergeant Sean Guscott. Fraud is so prevalent in our world, and the fraudsters are becoming more and more sophisticated. Come and hear about how the fraudsters try and trick us out of our hard-earned mon- ey, with recommendations from the OPP on how to pro- tect ourselves. Come at 9:30 for coffee and muffins, with the presentation beginning at 10 a.m. Sandwiched between these two events is our Thanksgiving Service. Please join us at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 8" for a celebration of the Fall Harvest and the love God has for our world. Following the service please stay to chat with us and Canon Nancy and of course their will be coffee and muffins! Looking for more infor- mation?
