10/ April 2024. The South Marysburgh Mirror COUNCIL John Hirsch Councillor, Ward 9 South Marysburgh March - Mild weather and mild agendas It seems like | chose a good month to be away — no snow in the driveway when we got home and | did not miss major agenda items. One thing that did happen this month bears significant attention. We had applied for federal infrastructure money to con- vert the Queen E. school into affordable housing and sup- ports services. Our grant proposal hit all 10 points the gov- ernment said needed to be addressed — yet we were turned down. A bit of analysis shows that most of the approved funding in this program is going to ridings who elected a Liberal MP. That is shameful, but apparently a political fact of life. We are pursuing the ministry for other options, but | guess sometimes, it really does matter which party you vote for. By the way, the mountains of Portugal would be really beautiful if it wasn’t for the hundreds of wind turbines blan- keting their slopes.
