The South Marysburgh Mirror April 2024/11 Roots and Wings St. Philip’s Anglican Church — Quinte —— CONSERVATION % (Continued from page 8) quite entertaining and knowledgeable, and sparked interest amongst the many knitters in the crowd. Lesley also talked to us about the trend in fashion of “fixing instead of ditching”. She spoke about the millions of pounds of clothing that go to landfill each year, and that the “look” of showing a re- pair made to our clothing is creating a splash. Lesley invited us to come and visit her at her shop on Main Street in Picton, and her website is https://rosehaven-yarn- shop.myshopify.com/. \ We also want to remind you about our February Saturday Morning Talk, which was an information session on the Backpacks for Migrant Workers programme, run by Mary Ann & Bill Barrett, and Emmanuel Baptist in Bloomfield. Mary Ann and Bill will be taking in donations for the more than 64 backpacks they will be putting together for the migrant workers at farms all over the County. St. Philip’s will be helping this im- portant initiative by collecting donations for the packs, as well as delivering to farms in our area. We look forward to also making a connection with the people that are so im- portant to the farm life here in the County. If you think you might want to take part, see what is needed by visiting our website at https://stphilipschurch.ca/backpack-for- migrant-workers. Our April Saturday Morning Talk will fea- ture Lindsay Nash from Quinte Conserva- tion. Lindsay is the Outreach & Stewardship Coordinator at Quinte Conservation and will speak to us about the many programs that will be of interest to residents of South Marysburgh and the County with the main focus being on sustainability. We hope you can join us on Saturday, April 27", with coffee and muffins at 9:30 a.m., and the session which starts at 10:00 a.m. By the time you are reading this our Easter services will have happened. We are glad to be partnering with South Bay United again this year for our Good Fri- day Service at their Church on County Road 13. We hope you were able to join us for any of the Services, but if not, know you are always welcome! Our services at St. Philip’s are 9:00 a.m. on Sundays.
