He will also be dearly missed by his close friends. Harry's loving heart was a beacon of light to all that had the pleasure to know him. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone laugh and was an amazing storyteller. If you were to measure a man by his kindness, his unconditional love, and his courage, it is no wonder he is known by his family as "Superman". The family thanks his caring doctors, all his caregivers, and his angel nurse, Vilma, for making his final days as comfortable as possible. ELLICK, James Kenneth 18 March 1956 - 27 March 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After a long and courageous battle with cancer, it is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing at home of James Kenneth Ellick on March 27, 2022, in his 66th year. Loving husband and best friend to Laura, proud father of James (Amy), Krystal (Peter) and Danielle (Kyle). Devoted "Grampy" to grandchildren Avery and Tanner Ellick, Lucas, Brooke and Jackson Trofimov, and Logan and Hunter Carmichael. Caring brother to Linda LaRosa (the late Ross), and brother-in-law to Harvey Searle (the late Elaine). Son of the late Lillian and Cyril Ellick. Jim's entire 35-year career was spent in the banking/ financial industry, rising from a junior management trainee position at Provincial Bank to Senior Manager at National Bank, Maple Partners, and B2B Trust. Since retirement in 2011, he enjoyed more time at the same cottage he had watched his own Grampy and father build in 1967, and spent many hours fishing, "going for a putt" around the lake in his much-loved pontoon and sitting around the campfire. In the last few years, his greatest joy had been spending time with his grandchildren and seeing them enjoy the cottage as much as he did. Jim also had a great interest in military sciences and the tactics of war, enjoying WWII documentaries and movies, and following current world events with a keen eye. Memorial visitation will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby from 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, until the time of the Graveside service at Mount Lawn Cemetery at 12p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (thepmcf.ca).
