31 | | durhamregion.com | This Week | Thursday, May 19, 2022 | SHARP, Stewart Earl ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stewart (Stew) Earl Sharp originally from Oshawa and recently from Brighton, Ontario, on April 28, 2022, just days after his 80th birthday. He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Velma (Richards) Sharp and sister Dorothy. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Vicki (Barker/Cook), three children: Art Sharp (Shanthi), Trevor Sharp and Janelle (Cook) Tremblay (Dan), his proud grandchildren: Tavin, Kayla, Ethan and Caitlin, brothers: Alf (Lilian), John (Betty) and David (Gayle). He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, friends, Shirley (Greenwood) Keenan, and in-laws Cheryl and John Nailor. Stew worked for Oshawa General Motors for over 30 years. He was an active community member and volunteer in each of the communities where he lived (Oshawa, Mink Lake-McClure Township, and Brighton). Stew embraced the outdoors while sharing time with his brothers, family and friends fishing, hunting, cottaging and golfing. He also enjoyed gardening, preserving, cooking, traveling, walking, swimming and watching sports. A Celebration of Life will take place from 12 - 4 p.m. at the Legion Branch 100, 25 Park Street, Brighton on June 11, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Legion Branch 100 in Brighton, where he has been an active volunteer for many years. RAE, Grace Edna ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious mother, Grace Edna Rae, on May 13, 2022, after suffering several medical events. Her daughters had the privilege of ministering to their mother and being involved with her peaceful passing. She had recently celebrated her 97th birthday at her home in Hillsdale Estates LTC where she was so loved and treated with such great respect. Grace was a Woman of Faith, of great generosity, a Prayer Warrior and had a great love for her family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her five children, David Rae (Ann), Liz Thompson (John), Linda Hayworth (Lindsay), Mary- Anne Schuit (Jerry) and Art Rae (Cindy) plus 16 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. Grace was predeceased by her loving husband, John, grand- daughter, Jennifer, and her brother and sisters. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. ABERSEK, Petrina ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our warrior Petrina Abersek, 45, of Oshawa, on May 11, 2022. Petrina passed away peacefully with her loving and devoted husband by her side after a courageous battle with Cancer. Petrina is pre- deceased by her mother, Louise. Petrina is survived by her husband Nathan, father John, brother Peter (Shala), sister Lara (Rob) will be sadly missed by her cousins, aunts, uncles and friends and co- worker. Petrina was a creative, passionate soul. Her zest for life and outgoing personality was endless. Petrina was a valued employee of Ontario shores, Whitby where she pursued her passion in creating new innovated ideas for mental health within her department.
