Here's a guide to some of the free Canada Day fun in the region. CITY OF OSHAWA CANADA DAY EVENT Oshawa's annual Canada Day celebration kicks off at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Park, 55 Lakeview Park Ave. and wraps up with fireworks at 10 p.m. The event is set to include a midway, inflatables, a mobile art bus, live music and interactive family entertainment, including Hands on Exotics, a tank display and performances by Woof-Jocks Canine All Stars. Town of Whitby Canada Day event Whitby's Canada Day event starts at 6:30 p.m. at Victoria Fields Park, 345 Watson St. You can find food trucks, live music, photo opportunities and a fireworks show along the waterfront. MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON CANADA DAY EVENT Celebrate Clarington runs from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Centre, 2440 Regional Hwy. 2 in Bowmanville. The event will include music by Alexa Goldie and Charles Street Band, children's entertainment, Soper Creek Wildlife demonstration, inflatable courses and games, a sensory break room, food vendors and fireworks to end the night. TOWN OF AJAX CANADA DAY EVENT The Town of Ajax celebrates Canada Day at Ajax Downs, 50 Alexander's Crossing, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event features cultural performances, children's games and activities, interactive experiences, two stages with live entertainment, community displays, food vendors, a beer garden and a fireworks finale at 10 p.m. A free Canada Day shuttle is available to transport people to the site. CITY OF PICKERING CANADA DAY EVENT The City of Pickering's Canada Day celebration includes day and evening events. The day program runs from 12 to 5 p.m. at Esplanade Park, 1 The Esplanade, with food trucks, live entertainment and family activities. Feature entertainment includes SuperDogs and Dan the Music Man. Skateboarding is the feature activity -- the Esplanade North will be turned into a giant skateboard spot for one day only with a DJ, activities and prizes. The evening program runs from 7 to 10 p.m. at Kinsmen Park, 705 Sandy Beach Rd., with live entertainment, food trucks and fireworks. TOWNSHIP OF SCUGOG CANADA DAY EVENT This year's Canada Day event at Palmer Park, 175 Water St., starts with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. and caps off with a fireworks show at 10 p.m. In between, you can catch the Support Our Troops parade starting at 10:30 a.m. and a day of live entertainment, food vendors, a free pizza and barbecue lunch and a kid's zone with crafts, a jumping castle and face painting.
