In most situations, their presence creates no problems for responsible gun owners and family members. However, firearms can pose a significant risk if someone in the home is living with Alzheimer's or another dementia. Together in Safety is a public safety resource program created by the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario and the Chief Firearms Office of Ontario. Working with our partners, like the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, we are promoting awareness and education in firearms safety and harm prevention to all Canadians. Building Connections in Firearms Safety A Lakeridge Health doctor has been selected as the chief medical information officer for the central Ontario area. Dr. Ilan Lenga is currently the chief information officer and chief medical information officer for Lakeridge Health. In his new role, he will provide leadership to hospitals not only in Durham, but Campbellford, Haliburton, Northumberland, Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes. "Dr. Lenga is an established and well-respected physician and information technology (IT) executive with extensive experience leading clinical digital transformation at provincial and regional levels," said Dr. Tony Stone, chief of staff for Lakeridge Health. "His vast knowledge will help each organization derive the maximum clinical benefit from the Epic (Clinical Information System)." Lenga has been a practicing nephrologist at Lakeridge since 2004 and is also a lecturer at the University of Toronto and an adjunct assistant professor at Queen's University. He will continue to serve as the chief information officer at Lakeridge, but the hospital system will look to recruit a new candidate for the chief medical information officer position.
