Notes: Melvin R. Yamashita, 84, of Algonquin, died June 23, 2005, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born July 19, 1920, in Aberdeen, Idaho, to Ty and Shizu (Nomura) Yamashita. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Machida Yamashita, whom he married Sept. 7, 1952; three children, Darryl Yamashita of Chicago, Lori Yamashita of Harleysville, Pa., and Marcia (Patrick) Dunning of West Dundee; two granddaughters, Megan and Kate; and a sister, Clara (Paul) Akichika of Homedale, Idaho. Service at Congregational Church of Algonquin, Algonquin.
