- Description
- The Tillsonburg Public Library was originally the Carnegie Library from approximately 1915, The library was rebuilt in 1974 on the original site of The Carnegie Library.
The current St. John's Anglican Church (pictured here) was constructed at the corner of Bidwell and Ridout Streets in Tillsonburg, Ontario from 1899 to 1900. There were two Anglican churches prior to this, with the first being built in 1868 and destroyed by fire in 1870, and the second built in 1873 - later replaced by the current church.
St Pauls church goes back to 1867 back when it was a methodist church and was located on Ridout street. The current building was built in 1912 after the original church was destroyed in a fire.
When Tillsonburg got its own post office it was still called Dereham. On March 1st of 1868 was the first time people saw "Tillsonburg P.O." on their Mail.
