- This invitation is written to invite the recipient [left blank] to the official inauguration of the City of Brantford on May 31st, 1877. It is signed from the former Town Clerk, James Woodyat, and the former Mayor of Brantford, Dr. James W. Digby, and was written on the 17th of May, 1877.

"Brantford, 17th May, 1877.
Sir,
I am instructed by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Brantford to extend to the Mayor and Council of [left blank] a cordial invitation to attend the Inauguration of the City of Brantford, on the 31st instant.
Will you be kind enough to furnish before the 25th the names of those who will attend, when Dinner Tickets will be sent to you.
