Summary of Cultural Attributes:
Historical: The Morrow House is situated on a 1/3 acre lot that is part of a 1848 deed from Sherriff Henry Ruttau to Henry Meade. In 1897, it was granted to Irene A. Morrow, wife of J.H. Morrow, a local entrepreneur; they built the present-day house in 1901. Mr. Morrow was the first Brightonian to buy a car, a 1902 Ford, manufactured by the American Ford Company. When he bought the car he made arrangements to establish a Ford dealership for Northumberland County, which he located at present day 23 Prince Edward Street. He also built a receiving shed at the Grand Trunk Railroad station where it still stands.

The house remained in the Morrow family until Irene's death in 1972. In 1981, it was purchased by Sonja Trafford, who is believed to have renovated the house. It was acquired in 1991 by the present owners, Leslie B. And Catherine Cattell.

Architectural: This large white frame, 2 ½ storey house is Queen Anne in style with some
Edwardian features. It has verandas on the front and rear, and gables on the front (over a bay window) and on two sides as well as a dormer on the front. Most of the widows are simple one-over-one, except for a three-part arrangement in the side gables.
